Elementary – Why Doesn’t She Love Me? Loser Ka Eh.

3 05 2010

We all get down because of that elusive and slippery four-letter word we call “love.” Why doesn’t he care, why doesn’t she love me, what’s wrong with me? These are the questions we are usually faced with. And, sadly, the answers are often too hard to swallow. Listen in as a heartbroken gent receives the ugly truth from his friend. Jovitt and Mickey handle the teaching, while Razi comes in with his two cents on love and the world of emo.

A: Bakit hindi niya ako mahal?
B: Loser ka eh.
A: Bakit ka ganyan?
B: Emo ka eh.

A: Why doesn’t she love me?
B: Coz you’re a loser.
A: Why are you like that?
B: Coz you’re emo.

And because we have no shame here in Kalyespeak, we’ll be teaching you how to say “I’m thirsty” in Filipino (talk about a segue!). Tune in as Mickey and Jovitt talk about thirst and water. Listen in closely and you might just guess where Cris G has gone off to!

A: Nauuhaw ako.

B: Oh, ito tubig.

A: Salamat po.

A: I’m thirsty.

Elementary – Lakbay Tayo! Boracay

2 07 2009

borapic

Manila is the capital of the Philippines… but Boracay is, um, the CAPITAL of FUN. Ok, that sounded lame. But you get the point – Boracay is the place to go to for beach fun and partying. Listen in as Cris and Mickey give Jovitt a call, as the culture vulture enjoys the view in Boracay.

Andito ako ngayon sa Boracay!
Ang ganda ng beach!
Parang pulbos yung buhangin, at ang linaw ng tubig!
Ang dami pang naka-bikini! Wow!
Kaso ang dami ring naka-Speedo! Kadiri.

I’m here right now in Boracay!
The beach is awesome/beautiful!
The sand is like powder!
And the water is so clear!
And there’s also a lot of people in bikinis! Wow!
But, there are also a lot in Speedos. Yuck.

Newbs – I Love You! Pakita Mo .

13 02 2009

42-18245423Ah, love. The four letter word that starts a life of happiness and fulfillment. The four letter word that makes the world go round. The four letter word that makes us gush and see little bunny rabbits hop around with unicorns prancing on colorful rainbows. Um, ok, maybe not the last part. Sadly, it’s also the four letter word that causes awfully awkward conversations… such as this one. Listen and learn to profess your love in Filipino with Mickey and Cris.

A: Pare, alam mo ba? Mahal kita.
B: Huwag mo sabihin iyan. Pakita mo na lang.

A: Dude, did you know? I love you.
B: Don’t say that… just show it.

Newbs – Does It Go? Iyakin.

19 12 2008

That high-pitched androgynous being that is Zsazsa is back, and now she’s shopping. Of course, his/her friend is back as well, with a new mean putdown in store for poor Zsazsa. Cris and Mickey explain the language of colors, matching clothes, and Christmas trees (go figure!).

A: Bagay ba?
B: Pulang t-shirt, green na pantalon. Ano ka – Krismas tree?
A: Ang sama mo.
B: Iyakin.

A: Does it go?
B: Red shirt, green pants. What do you think you are – a Christmas tree?
A: You’re so mean.
B: Crybaby.

Newbs – Are you ready? Teka lang.

12 08 2008

Aiyo! So you’re friend is one of those slow types – 30 minutes to get ready to take a shower, another 30 in the shower, and yet another 30 getting out of the shower. Cris and Mickey give you a lesson on how to ask if he’s ready (which he probably isn’t). Jovitt flies in to talk about “Filipino time.”

A: Buboy, handa ka na ba?
B: Hindi pa.
A: Tara na! Late na tayo!
B: Teka lang!

A: Buboy, are you ready?
B: Not yet.
A: Come on! We’re late already!
B: Hold up a bit!
