Stuck in the hellish July rains in the middle of EDSA? Late for a flight and the tricycle you’re riding in won’t make it around to the next corner? Want a wee bit more luxury in your life? Then take a taxi! After this episode with Cris and Mickey, you’ll be flagging down taxis left and right. But it doesn’t mean that if they stop, you’ve got yourself a ride. Jovitt explains the mystery of taxis stopping for a customer and driving off to the sunset, leaving the hapless customer behind.

Well, I learned from the Filipinos: Saan ka pupunta? What’s the difference between that phrase and the one you just taught? (Saan punta niyo?)

Hey Jacki!

It’s the same thing. “Saan punta niyo?” is a bit more colloquial though, a bit slangy. And the ‘niyo’ here is a polite way of saying ‘ka’ – in Filipino, when we want to be polite, we use the plural form of the pronoun. So here, instead of ‘ka’ (the 2nd person singular pronoun), we use ‘niyo’ (the 2nd person plural pronoun).
